ART.Cy Digital Marketing Masterclass for the Arts and Culture Sector

On Thursday, 15 October 2026, ART.Cy will present its first professional training programme for artists and cultural organisations at the Four Seasons Hotel in Limassol.
The one-day masterclass is designed for artists, galleries, museums, foundations and other organisations seeking to strengthen their visibility, reach new audiences and use digital channels more strategically.
Participants will explore the essential elements of digital marketing, from positioning and audience development to websites, search visibility, content, email campaigns and paid advertising. The programme combines practical instruction with international case studies and hands-on workshops.
No previous marketing or technical experience is required.
From Online Presence to Digital Strategy
Having a website and maintaining social-media accounts may create an online presence, but it does not necessarily create results. An effective digital strategy begins by identifying the audiences an artist or cultural organisation wants to reach. It then connects identity, content and communication with clear objectives: attracting visitors, building relationships, generating enquiries, selling artwork or encouraging participation in cultural activities.
The masterclass will help participants examine their current digital presence and develop a more coherent approach to communicating their work.
Masterclass Programme
1. Building the Foundations
The opening session examines the relationship between artistic identity, audience, positioning and communication. Participants will consider what makes their work distinctive, whom they want to reach and how that identity can be expressed consistently online.
International case study: Yayoi Kusama and the development of an unmistakable global artistic identity.
2. Creating a Website That Encourages Action
A cultural website should do more than display information. It should help visitors understand the work, explore further and take a meaningful next step. This session considers website structure, visitor journeys, calls to action and the practical elements that encourage people to attend, subscribe, enquire or purchase.
International case study: The Museum of Modern Art in New York and the architecture of a major cultural website.
3. Improving Online Discoverability
Artists and cultural organisations must be visible when audiences actively search for exhibitions, collections, artists and cultural experiences. Participants will receive an accessible introduction to search engine optimisation, authoritative cultural content and the growing importance of visibility within artificial-intelligence platforms as well as conventional search engines.
International case study: The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the digital discoverability of art collections and cultural knowledge.
4. Developing Content People Want to Follow
Effective content communicates more than announcements. It reveals artistic processes, introduces ideas, tells stories and creates reasons for audiences to return. This session covers editorial planning, platform selection and the coordinated use of articles, exhibition news, photography and video.
International case study: Unit London and its digital presentation of artists, exhibitions and contemporary art.
5. Building Relationships Through Email
Email remains one of the most direct ways to maintain relationships with collectors, visitors, supporters and cultural audiences. Participants will learn how to organise mailing lists, plan newsletters and develop campaigns for invitations, exhibitions, announcements and continued engagement.
Practical workshop: Creating and distributing an email newsletter using Mailchimp.
6. Reaching New Audiences Through Digital Advertising
The final working session introduces paid promotion through Facebook, Instagram and Google. Topics include campaign objectives, audience targeting, creative development, budget allocation and the evaluation of advertising performance.
Practical workshop: Developing Facebook and Instagram advertising campaigns using Meta.
What Participants Will Take Away
