Maria Kyprianou to exhibit at The Masks We Wear exhibition on 24–25 October
Cypriot ceramic sculptor Maria Kyprianou will participate in ART.Cy’s upcoming group exhibition The Masks We Wear, taking place on 24–25 October 2026 at the Aphrodite Amathusia Cultural Centre in Limassol.
Kyprianou’s artistic practice explores the expressive potential of ceramics, with a distinctive approach to clay and large-scale sculpture. Born in 1977 in Limassol, Cyprus, she developed an early passion for art, particularly painting, before shifting her focus to sculpture. She trained under renowned Cypriot artist Pambos Michlis and sculptor Panicos Spanos, refining her skills to become a professional ceramic sculptor.
Her work is recognized for its captivating female figures, often drawing inspiration from mythology and fairytales. Through masterful clay techniques, she brings to life expressive forms that merge tradition with contemporary artistic vision.
With a deep connection to her medium and a unique sculptural language, Maria Kyprianou continues to explore the expressive potential of ceramics, bridging the past with contemporary interpretations. Her work creates a dialogue between tradition, mythology and the human experience, making her practice particularly relevant to the themes explored in The Masks We Wear.
The Masks We Wear will take place on Saturday, 24 October and Sunday, 25 October 2026, from 11:00 to 20:00, at the Aphrodite Amathusia Cultural Centre in Limassol.
The exhibition brings together three artists working across different mediums and visual languages: Aristos Christoforou, Maria Kyprianou and Jai Mitchell. Together, their works offer different perspectives on identity, memory, emotion and transformation.
