The Department of Fine Arts at the Cyprus University of Technology is proud to present its graduating students’ exhibition CUTS 2025 at the Limassol Municipal Arts Centre – Apothikes Papadaki.

The exhibition’s title, CUTS, carries an intentional ambiguity. In film theory, cuts—the transitions between shots—are not merely mechanical switches from one image to another, but fundamental tools for generating meaning and connection. In this sense, they serve not just as technical points of transition, but also as carriers of conflict, tension, and redefinition.

Similarly, the works presented in this exhibition emerge from diverse starting points and follow varied trajectories, coming together in a dynamic space of composition and dialogue. Within this space, issues of political, cultural, gender, and other forms of identity intersect and unfold.

Through a network of intermedia and interdisciplinary approaches, a multifaceted body of work is revealed, encompassing painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, video, sound, installations, textiles, ephemeral elements, natural materials, as well as industrial and ready-made objects. CUTS 2025 may be viewed both as a proposal for dialogue among visual art forms in a post-medium condition and as a subtle sociopolitical commentary on contemporary hybrid societies.

Beyond showcasing individual artistic proposals, the exhibition aims to highlight the role of the Department of Fine Arts not only as an academic institution but also as a space that fosters experimental expression, research inquiry, and theoretical reflection.
