From ancient conquests to modern-day theft, looting has shaped history. This session will explore three famous cases, revealing why art is targeted and how stolen treasures are recovered. Cyprus, too, has suffered immense cultural loss, but through knowledge and perseverance, lost heritage can be restored.


About Aleksandra PoliakovaWith a background in Middle Eastern history and art studies from institutions including St. Petersburg State University and the State Hermitage Museum, Aleksandra has worked on major international exhibitions, including the Larnaca Biennale 2023 and the North Sea Jazz Festival 2024 in Rotterdam.
