ART.Cy Field Trip to Kapopoulos Fine Arts Gallery: Exploring Victor Ioannides, Euphoria Furniture, Cypriot and International Artists

Our November ART.Cy field trip took place at the Kapopoulos Fine Arts Gallery in Limassol. We are grateful to Mr. Stelios Ioannides, Mrs. Nicole Ioannides Varnava and Mrs. Kiara Timm for hosting a warm welcome. Participants had the opportunity to experience an inspiring collection of artworks by Victor Ioannides (1903–1984), a distinguished Cypriot painter celebrated for his innovative techniques and significant contributions to the art scene. Kapopoulos Fine Arts Gallery also held an exhibition of custom-made Euphoria Furniture, and a variety of artworks by local and international artists.

Victor Ioannides, born in Limassol in 1903, known for his innovative techniques and significant contributions to the art scene. Ioannides developed a unique painting technique involving chemical mixtures that gave his works a porcelain like finish. His paintings reflect another perhaps forgotten era from Cyprus, an altogether more human scale.

His work reveals the innocent landscapes, urban scenes, seascapes and portraits of a traditional Cyprus that was in many ways pre-industrial, a time of traditional pursuits and occupations.

His legacy includes several accolades and his works are held in various prestigious collections and museums.
