ART.Cy Remembers Felix Volossenkov (1944–2025)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, Felix Vasilyevich Volossenkov. The world lost a visionary artist whose dynamic and expressive works left an indelible mark on contemporary art.


Born in 1944, Volossenkov’s artistic journey began at the Art College in Baku, followed by studies in architecture and stage design. Throughout his prolific career, he participated in 321 exhibitions worldwide, with his works housed in prestigious institutions such as the State Hermitage, the Russian Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Stedelijk Museum, and the Sakima Art Museum. As President of the St. Petersburg Academy of Modern Art and a member of the Italian Union of Artists, he was a defining force in the evolution of modern Russian painting.
