Nikoletta Pharmakalidou was born in Famagusta and displaced to Larnaka due to the Turkish invasion in 1974.
After her studies in Marketing, she began an ongoing search for ways to express her thoughts, ideas, and inspirations on a professional and on a personal level.
After a long and creative career in advertising, she sought new challenges in different fields. A restless and impulsive soul, she eventually found her calling in working with clay—transforming it into pieces that captivate both the eye and the heart.
Among all crafts, pottery won her over, inspiring her through the fundamental elements of clay: earth, air, water, and fire. Her work reveals a free-flowing synergy of circles, squares, and rectangles; of patterns, colours, and imprints; of figures, threads, and embroidery—each element working in unison to stimulate the emotions. Every piece is a harmonious composition of soft yet distinct forms that exalt freedom and purity.
Central to her practice are needlecraft and crochet, techniques passed down by her mother and grandmother. Her works fuse this traditional, nearly extinct art form with contemporary materials and themes, creating harmonious motifs that bridge memory, heritage, and modern expression.
