Jai Mitchell is an American multidisciplinary visual artist whose work explores the transformative power of painting as a path to healing and self-reclamation. Drawing from personal history and lived experience, he creates layered abstractions and emotionally charged symbolism that examine trauma, resilience, and spiritual renewal. Often described as a “soul portraitist,” Jai channels psychological intensity reminiscent of Munch, translating fear, anxiety, and vulnerability into compelling visual narratives of breakthrough and rebirth.
A self-taught artist, Jai has exhibited internationally in Berlin, Barcelona, Milan, Washington, DC, and in the Metaverse, with works held in private collections across the United States, Canada, and Europe. His work has been featured in the Berlin newspaper Der Tagesspiegel. He serves on the board of The Aplomb Project, a USA based non-profit organization that uses the transformative power of art to uplift trauma survivors and is represented by Ali Jay Fine Art.
